Head of Internal Communications

I head up the Internal Communications department and lead a team of communications professionals.

Having set up the new communications function in 2019, I am responsible for producing high-quality, effective communications across a group of organisations. As a team we deliver a variety of newsletters, campaigns and events to over 4,000 colleagues throughout the UK using a number of communications channels.

• Leading on Covid response communication and engagement
• Setting up virtual conferences and events during the pandemic
• Introducing new group-wide online communication platforms
• Launching colleague networking groups to support the inclusion and diversity agenda
• Introducing data and analysis into internal communications to measure the effect of what we do

Maximus UK (Sept 2017 – Oct 2019)

Communications Executive

I supported the Marketing Manager in all marketing and communications activities. As the remit of our team grew, I took on a more active role in leading internal communications.

Highlights

• Played a key role in delivering a large conference to over 2,000 colleagues across four locations
• Developed a variety of wellbeing and engagement campaigns
• Led on the build of the new UK corporate website

POSH Communication (Aug 2015 – Aug 2017)

Digital copywriter

I was responsible for writing copy for websites, updating and maintaining web pages, SEO optimisation, developing and managing social media content, running paid social media campaigns and online reporting.

Highlights

• Led in optimising a website to improve user experience and website traffic, as well as increase online conversions. The improvements I implemented resulted in significant growth in online traffic and revenue

Cl*ck (Apr 2012 – Jul 2015)

Copywriter

I developed a range of creative internal campaigns to improve employee engagement. I also worked on a number of advertising campaigns, trade events and thought leadership activities.

Highlights

• My concept for a client’s stand at a leading industry event won Stand of the Year
• My work on a pitch for the launch of a global cosmetic brand coming to one of South Africa’s largest retailers went global

MetropolitanRepublic (Sept 2010 – 2012)

Copy editor

My role was to ensure all advertising campaigns were on brand, on brief and error free – from brief through to production.

Highlights

• I caught a number of errors before they happened and ensured print deadlines were met – saving both my company and our clients hundreds of thousands of Rands

Actuate (Jan 2010 – Sept 2010)

Junior Copywriter

As a newbie to the agency world, I was responsible for creating conceptual engagement campaigns and developing internal communication and training material for clients.

Highlights

• I led on a sales upskilling campaign for Cadbury, which resulted in a 125% increase in confectionary sales and my work received a marketing accolade
